Job Description

The Lead ML Engineer at Sword Health is responsible for developing and deploying AI and machine learning solutions to enhance personalized clinical care, working closely with clinical teams to create decision support systems and improve patient outcomes in a remote, hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ML-powered features to identify the best course of action for each patient.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to enhance AI care personalization and effectiveness.
  • Ensure AI experiences closely mimic one-on-one sessions with physical therapists.
  • Leverage recent advancements in Generative AI to improve AI care human touch and personalization.
  • Contribute to projects like Phoenix and decision support systems to empower physical therapists.

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a valid EU visa and be based in Portugal.
  • Proven experience in leading machine learning engineering teams or projects, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
  • Extensive experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models in production environments.
  • Strong programming skills in relevant languages such as Python, with experience using ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning techniques.
  • Experience working closely with clinical or healthcare teams to develop ML-powered features that identify the best course of action for patients.
  • Ability to develop decision support systems and features that enable high-quality, personalized clinical care.
  • Experience in leveraging recent developments in Generative AI to enhance AI systems, particularly in personalization and human-like interactions.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including clinical professionals and software engineers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to consider holistic and nuanced perspectives in model development.
  • Experience in building scalable AI solutions that aim to replicate the experience of a 1-on-1 session with a Physical Therapist.
  • Knowledge of AI safety, ethics, and compliance considerations relevant to healthcare applications.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of AI systems that improve user experience and personalization at scale.
