Job Description
The Lead ML Engineer at Sword Health develops and implements advanced AI and machine learning solutions to power personalized clinical care, including end-to-end treatment management systems and AI Care Specialists, to improve healthcare accessibility and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement AI and ML solutions for personalized clinical care.
- Design and build end-to-end AI treatment management systems covering assessment, intervention, and monitoring.
- Build and refine AI components such as prompt engineering, RAG implementations, model fine-tuning, and agent workflows.
- Leverage generative AI and classical machine learning techniques based on project requirements.
- Contribute to improving digital healthcare quality and accessibility through AI innovations.
Requirements
- Candidates must possess a valid EU visa and be based in Portugal.
- Experience in developing AI and ML solutions, including end-to-end AI treatment management systems that handle complete care pathways from initial assessment through intervention selection and progress monitoring across various therapeutic domains.
- Proficiency in prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) implementations, model fine-tuning, and agentic workflows.
- Ability to leverage both generative AI and classical machine learning depending on the problem requirements.
- Strong understanding of AI and ML development best practices, including working with full AI stacks.
- Experience working on projects that contribute to delivering digital care with high clinical quality and accessibility.
- Excellent problem-solving skills related to AI and ML applications in healthcare.
- Ability to work remotely in Portugal, with the legal right to work in the EU, and possess a valid EU visa.
- Demonstrated experience in developing solutions that improve clinical care quality and accessibility at scale.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
