Job Description
An AI Research Scientist responsible for developing advanced AI systems for autonomous clinical care, focusing on long-horizon treatment planning, multimodal perception, and reinforcement learning to support healthcare applications at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct foundational research to advance clinical AI capabilities, focusing on memory systems, multimodal perception, and reinforcement learning for long-term treatment planning.
- Develop and ship AI models that enable autonomous, continuous, and scalable clinical care for patients.
- Collaborate on both research and product development to create innovative AI healthcare solutions.
- Publish research findings in top-tier AI conferences and clinical journals to contribute to scientific knowledge.
- Build core AI systems that understand patient history, perceive current states, and guide recovery over extended periods.
Requirements
- Possess a PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in AI research, including experience with memory systems, multimodal perception (video, audio, wearable signals), and multi-turn reinforcement learning for long-horizon treatment planning.
- Demonstrate a strong track record of scientific rigor and product impact, including actively publishing in top-tier AI conferences and clinical journals.
- Experience in building AI systems capable of sustained engagement across dozens of interactions, understanding patient history, perceiving present state, and guiding recovery over weeks and months.
- Ability to make high-stakes decisions with incomplete information in high-pressure environments.
- Proficiency in developing AI models that operate autonomously at scale for real clinical care.
- Experience working at the frontier of both research and product development without a predefined playbook.
- Must be based in Portugal with a valid EU visa, as the position does not offer relocation assistance.
- Candidates from London, UK, or Lisbon, Portugal, are preferred, but exceptional candidates elsewhere in Europe will be considered.
- Ability to work remotely and flexible working hours, with the capacity to operate independently in a remote setting.
