Job Description
The Chief Operating Officer will lead the organization’s strategic planning and oversee operations, HR, finance, and support functions to enable effective delivery of climate solutions and organizational impact. They will work closely with leadership to design systems, processes, and structures that support growth and efficiency in a mission-driven nonprofit focused on climate change mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate organizational strategy into effective structures, processes, and systems to enable successful delivery of work and impact.
- Participate in organizational leadership, setting priorities, planning, and decision-making as a member of the Leadership Team.
- Set and own the strategic vision for Spark's Operations, HR, and Finance functions.
- Support the management of Communications and Program Management.
- Design and evolve systems to improve organizational efficiency and minimize administrative burden on program teams.
- Proactively drive work forward, manage multiple priorities, and take full responsibility for outcomes.
- Create clear prioritization frameworks, structures, and workflows to ensure clarity and accountability.
Requirements
- Experience in translating organizational strategy into effective structures, processes, and systems that enable successful delivery of work and impact.
- Ability to participate in leadership decision-making as a member of the Leadership Team.
- Experience in setting and owning the strategic vision for Operations, HR, and Finance functions within an organization.
- Experience in supporting the management of Communications and Program Management functions.
- Demonstrated ability to design and evolve systems in a growing organization.
- Flexibility and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to approach ambiguity with curiosity and pragmatism, and identify existing processes that can be improved.
- Outcome- and user-driven approach to designing processes and systems that enable results and minimize administrative burden on program teams.
- High ownership and bandwidth to take full responsibility for outcomes, proactively drive work forward, and manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
- Structured and organized approach with the ability to create clear prioritization frameworks, structures, and workflows that drive clarity and accountability.
