Job Description

A Senior Mechanical Designer Fabrication Specialist responsible for creating detailed CAD designs, troubleshooting equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting mechanical fabrication and project management within an innovative battery materials company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD designs and models using various CAD software.
  • Develop and maintain Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Troubleshoot existing equipment and processes, developing innovative solutions.
  • Apply safety principles and regulations, including PSM, in design and development.
  • Assist with mechanical repairs and customizations on equipment.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules for assigned tasks or projects.
  • Communicate technical information through reports, presentations, and visual aids.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings related to engineering projects.
  • Conduct field inspections and translate observations into practical designs.
  • Contribute to Research and Development projects.

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science AAS degree in Drafting and Design or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience ideally 10 years in advanced mechanical design and drafting, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment, with chemical industry experience highly valued.
  • Proficiency in a range of CAD software, including Autodesk Suite, Fusion, Inventor, Plant 3D, and SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, safety regulations, and functional design.
  • Hands-on experience with manual fabrication techniques and machine shop equipment.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment.
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a daily basis.
  • Ability to move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts.
  • Ability to move long distances such as from building to building and be stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to reach low shelves or items on the floor.
  • Ability to enter spaces narrower than 3 feet.
  • Ability to climb stairs or over containment walls.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier, or printer, in a fixed location.

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range: $103,000 to $130,000
Work schedule: Onsite work environment
