Job Description
The Field Mechanical Engineering Intern will assist with mechanical quality control and technical documentation during construction, ensuring compliance with industry standards and supporting project execution in a battery materials company.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections to ensure mechanical installations comply with ASME B31.3 codes and project specifications
- Sample and maintain weld quality documentation, including weld logs and coordinating NDE as needed
- Maintain organized and audit-ready records of field activities and quality documentation
- Draft and track RFIs to clarify design intent and NCRs to document and resolve field discrepancies
- Serve as a technical liaison between engineering design team and field construction crew to ensure project adherence to schedule and technical tolerances
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong attention to detail with an interest in construction management and Quality Control (QC).
- Basic understanding of piping codes ASME B31.3 and welding processes is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with contractors and site leads.
- Strong computer skills with a basic introduction to AutoCAD.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $25/hr to $39/hr for 40 hours/week, depending on education, experience, and skills
Work schedule: 40 hours per week, may be eligible for overtime
Work environment perks: Onsite work, personal protective equipment provided, ability to move items up to 50 lbs, operate a computer and office equipment
