Job Description
A senior researcher responsible for designing and executing advanced battery chemistry experiments, focusing on lithium-ion and solid-state systems, to develop AI-enhanced battery materials and validate experimental data for accelerated materials discovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments on advanced Lithium battery systems, including solid-state and Li-ion chemistry.
- Conduct electrolyte R&D focusing on additive optimization and SEI engineering to improve battery performance and safety.
- Oversee the full battery development lifecycle from raw material chemistry to prototype validation.
- Perform advanced electrochemical testing and characterization to assess safety and performance metrics.
- Generate structured, high-quality data from experiments for AI/ML model training.
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate experimental data with computational models for material design and screening.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related field, or a background in Mechanical Aerospace Engineering with a strong materials focus
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Lithium battery chemistry, including fundamental understanding of Li-ion and solid-state systems
- Proficiency in advanced electrochemical testing and materials characterization techniques
- Proven experience in electrolyte formulation, additive optimization, and SEI (Solid Electrolyte Interphase) engineering
- Experience managing the full battery development lifecycle, including raw-material chemistry, electrode fabrication, electrochemical testing, and prototype validation
- Ability to generate clean, structured experimental data that meets the rigorous requirements for training AI/ML models
- Experience designing and executing experiments focused on advanced Lithium battery systems, including solid-state and Li-ion chemistry, using DOE (Design of Experiments) methodology
- Experience overseeing the complete battery development lifecycle from raw material chemistry to prototype validation
- Ability to bridge the gap between computational modeling and experimental validation, serving as a hybrid expert for material design iteration
- Experience collaborating with AI/ML teams to understand model requirements and contribute domain expertise to molecular property prediction, material screening, and generative chemistry applications
