The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, supporting month-end close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and providing financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making within the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and timely financial records
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision making
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation
Support internal controls and recommend process improvements
Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
At least 4 years of experience in accounting, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar, and Microsoft Excel
Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations
Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
Ability to assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, coordinating with team members to meet deadlines
Ability to analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision making and provide management with actionable insights
Ability to coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and information to support audit activities
Support internal controls and recommend process improvements to strengthen the financial reporting environment
Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
Effective communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
