Job Description
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, supporting month-end close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and providing financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making within the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision making
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation
- Support internal controls and recommend process improvements
- Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- At least 4 years of experience in accounting, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar, and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations
- Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Ability to assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, coordinating with team members to meet deadlines
- Ability to analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision making and provide management with actionable insights
- Ability to coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and information to support audit activities
- Support internal controls and recommend process improvements to strengthen the financial reporting environment
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
