At Samsara, we embrace a flexible working model that caters to the diverse needs of our teams.
Key Responsibilities
As Senior Manager, Global Supply Manager, you will own strategic sourcing, supplier relationships, and cost management for a portfolio of Samsara's hardware direct materials across the end-to-end product lifecycle. You will run commercial negotiations, build dual-source and supply-continuity strategies, drive should-cost and cost-down programs, and partner deeply with Engineering and Product on New Product Introduction (NPI) so we hit cost, quality, and supply targets ahead of ramp. You will report to the Head of Production Procurement, and collaborate daily with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Planning to turn supply strategy into measurable business impact.
This is a high-ownership role in a hyper-growth environment. You will manage a set of commodities directly, mentor analysts and supply managers on the team, and represent Samsara with our most strategic suppliers and contract manufacturers globally, including regular engagement with partners in Asia. You’ll also help modernize how we buy — shaping the requirements for AI in procurement, deploying analytics that sharpen sourcing decisions, and coaching the team to make these tools part of how they work every day.
Beyond the role itself, you’ll be joining Samsara at a pivotal moment. We operate at global scale, supporting customers across North America, Europe, and beyond as they digitize the physical operations that keep our world running — the trucks, fleets, equipment, and worksites behind more than 40% of global GDP. This is the vast, largely untapped world of physical operations, and Samsara is the platform defining its future. You’ll do it alongside a world-class team of operators, builders, and problem-solvers who set an exceptionally high bar, invest deeply in one another’s growth, and win together as we build an enduring, category-defining company.
Own end-to-end strategic sourcing for an assigned portfolio of direct-material commodities (e.g., cables/connectors/harnesses, PCBs, PCBA, sensors and optics, batteries, memory, SoC/storage), including supplier selection, RFQ, award, and ongoing commercial management.
Lead commercial negotiations — price, tooling/NRE, manufacturing value-add (MVA), payment terms, and Master Purchase Agreements (MPAs) — and defend Samsara's position on cost pass-throughs, should-cost, and inflation.
Build and execute supply-continuity strategies: dual-sourcing, qualification of alternate sources and raw materials, strategic buffer/inventory plans, and risk mitigation for sole-sourced or EOL parts.
Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) sourcing in partnership with Engineering and Product — early supplier engagement, cost targeting, and DFx/should-cost tradeoffs — to hit cost and availability goals ahead of ramp.
Establish and maintain a supplier 'chessboard' / JDM strategy: assess where current partners are strong, where we are gapped technologically, and where expansion or consolidation makes strategic sense.
Own quarter-over-quarter cost locks and PPV reduction, maintaining a source-of-truth cost model for your commodities and partnering with Finance and Planning on forecasting.
Manage supplier performance for quality, delivery, cost, and innovation, running structured business reviews and escalations.
Bring AI into the procurement toolkit — form the requirements and use cases for AI in sourcing, deploy analytics for spend, should-cost, and supplier-risk, and coach the team to adopt these tools in their daily workflows.
Partner cross-functionally with Legal on contracting, IP, and dispute matters, and with Operations Engineering and Planning on transitions and allocations.
Mentor and develop analysts and supply managers, and scale sourcing processes and decision frameworks as the team grows.
Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally.
Requirements
8+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or global supply management, including direct commodity ownership and commercial negotiation of multi-million-dollar spend.
Demonstrated experience sourcing hardware/electro-mechanical components (e.g., cables/connectors, PCB/PCBA, sensors, batteries, memory, or semiconductors), ideally in electronics, IoT, automotive, or consumer hardware.
Proven track record on NPI sourcing — from early supplier engagement through production launch — partnering closely with Engineering.
Strong should-cost and cost-modeling capability; comfortable operating in numbers, defending cost positions, and driving measurable cost-down results.
Experience managing global suppliers and contract/joint-design manufacturers, including negotiation with partners in Asia.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence senior cross-functional stakeholders.
Willingness to travel internationally (including to supplier sites in Asia), up to ~25% of the time.
Depth in one or more of Samsara's core commodities (cables/connectors/harnesses, bare PCB and laminate materials, camera sensors/optics, batteries, memory, SoC/storage).
Experience building dual-source frameworks, locked-markup or directed-buy structures, and strategic inventory/buffer programs to de-risk supply.
People-leadership experience — coaching, mentoring, and scaling a team or extended cross-functional group.
Comfort operating with both startup scrappiness and public-company rigor; able to build systems where little structure exists.
Familiarity with ERP/NetSuite, cost databases, and data-driven sourcing analytics.
Hands-on experience applying AI and advanced analytics in procurement — framing AI use cases and requirements, deploying analytics for spend, should-cost, and supplier-risk, and coaching a team to adopt these tools in daily workflows.
