Senior Software Engineer - Route Execution

As a Senior Software Engineer on Samsara’s Route Execution team, you’ll build the systems that power route planning, optimization, dispatch, and real-time tracking for fleets across logistics, field services, and delivery. You’ll work across the stack, with an emphasis on distributed systems powering our dispatch state machine, to improve dispatcher tools, driver experiences, and scalable backend APIs that handle geospatial and real-time data at scale. You’ll partner with design, product, and mobile to ship reliable, performant features that customers use every day. Our stack features Golang for backend services, GraphQL for data fetching, and TypeScript + React for our web client. We also use React Native for our mobile app. Direct experience with these technologies is not required. Our final interview stage is a full-day, in-person onsite at our SF office. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate face-to-face with our senior technical leaders and dive deep into the hard problems we are solving. This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US or Canada. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role. • Develop scalable backend services that handle tracking and execution of hundreds of thousands of routes in real time, along with reporting and suggested optimizations to better utilize vehicles, drivers, and take optimal routes to accomplish their work. • Create web interfaces that allow dispatchers and fleet managers to create and manage routes and deliveries for their entire organization from a single pane of glass. • Implement APIs and integrations with TMS/ERP systems that process millions of route events a day. • Bringing to life our next-gen commercial navigation features that utilize real-time data (weather, live traffic, hours of service) into our route tracking flow to make routes accurate and dynamically optimal for our customers.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience. • 4+ years of relevant industry experience in software development. • Strong programming/coding fundamentals. • Experience designing and architecting large, high-scale systems. • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage technical discussions. • An ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver upon project milestones with your team. • Located in the US or Canada • Demonstrated experience in routing, dispatch and navigation systems. • Contributed heavily to driving significant value to their customers. • Enjoys understanding our users and what would make their day-to-day processes easier to manage. • Loves shipping features that our customers use immediately. • Seeks to iterate on new products based on customer feedback. • Proactive growth mindset and improve on the status quo. The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance, subject to plan terms and conditions.
