Job Description
The Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Samsara is responsible for developing and deploying scalable ML solutions that enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of physical operations across various industries, working closely with cross-functional teams to build infrastructure, data pipelines, and models for real-world impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement ML APIs for cloud-based applications
- Build and maintain data pipelines for training and improving ML models
- Support A/B testing and online evaluation of ML models
- Collaborate with firmware and full-stack teams to deploy models for performance and cost optimization
- Research and evaluate emerging ML technologies and methodologies
- Translate customer needs into ML solutions in collaboration with product management
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science or other relevant field
- 4 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role
- Strong proficiency in one or more common programming languages such as C, Golang, Java, Python, or Scala
- Proficiency with common machine learning tools such as Spark, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
- Experience deploying and iteratively refining models using customer feedback loops
- Comfortable with full-stack backend development code to build a strong understanding of underlying data structures and other dependencies
- Experience with building end-to-end machine learning applications from scratch
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) frameworks
- Experience deploying and managing machine learning applications in cloud environments, including leveraging cloud-based services for data storage, processing, and inference
