Job Description
A Machine Learning Engineer at Samsara develops and deploys scalable ML and AI solutions to improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of physical operations across various industries, working closely with cross-functional teams to build innovative, customer-facing products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build ML infrastructure for batch and real-time models.
- Lead zero-to-one ML AI initiatives to develop new products from scratch.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineering teams to deliver core infrastructure, services, and optimizations.
- Develop and enhance inference capabilities, improving scalability and efficiency of ML platforms.
- Bridge the gap between ML scientists and engineering teams to enable successful cross-functional projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Scientist, or similar role.
- Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) degree in Computer Science or another quantitative field.
- Strong proficiency in one or more common programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or Golang.
- Proficiency with common ML tools and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Spark.
- A working understanding of the algorithms used to develop ML solutions.
- Proven experience with the end-to-end development of ML applications.
- Experience leading a small cross-functional team to deliver new ML experiences (preferred but not explicitly mandatory).
- Experience building zero-to-one ML applications.
