Job Description
The Engineering Manager will lead and grow a high-performing engineering team to develop innovative hardware, firmware, and software solutions, leveraging AI and machine learning to modernize physical operations and deliver impactful products at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead a high-performing, inclusive engineering team
- Define the product roadmap and technical vision in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Leverage AI and machine learning to develop innovative solutions for customer problems
- Oversee the architecture, development, and delivery of new product initiatives from concept to deployment
- Optimize engineering processes and metrics to ensure rapid and effective iteration
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to incorporate feedback and ensure product success
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 6 years of professional software development experience.
- 2 years of formal experience managing a team of software engineers in a product-driven environment.
- A deep-seated curiosity and a willingness to dive into complex technical and customer problems.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for developing a strong team culture.
- Hands-on AI/ML experience, including practical experience building with or fine-tuning AI models such as LLMs, and the ability to effectively guide a team working on these technologies.
- Proven success at scale, with a history of leading teams that have shipped and scaled software products to a large and growing user base.
- Familiarity with or the ability to quickly learn Samsara’s core technologies, including Go, TypeScript, GraphQL, gRPC, and React/React Native.
- Experience with mobile application development is a plus.
