Job Description
The Construction Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects for Redwood Materials' facilities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency while managing contractors, budgets, and project timelines to support sustainable battery manufacturing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage construction projects from bidding through start-up, including scope development, bid evaluation, and contract negotiations.
- Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design, schedule, and budget targets.
- Conduct constructability reviews and manage construction documentation, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
- Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure project milestones and quality standards are met.
- Promote and monitor environmental, health, and safety performance on construction sites.
- Track and report key construction metrics and troubleshoot equipment or process failures.
- Assist in project start-up, including documentation, contract management, and team coordination.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructability feedback during project development.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of construction experience preferably with an architecture, design or construction EPC firm
- Bachelor's Degree; MS degree preferred or relevant years of experience in Engineering or Construction management
- Ability to effectively prioritize with strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- High level of professionalism and strong sense of urgency
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Procore, PlanGrid, and MS Project preferred
- Ability to work with minimal guidance; proactive, motivated self-starter
- Understanding of construction design documents and ability to provide constructability feedback prior to and during construction
- Literate in P&IDs, Single Lines, Flow Diagrams, Logic Diagrams and Loops Diagrams
- Ability to sequence installations with all construction trades
- Experience with Permits City and Special inspections is preferred
- Experience working with or managing a commissioning agent preferred
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
- Must be able to bend, lift, and carry objects over 50 lbs
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs carrying weight
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
- Ability to work in environment such as office or outdoors and inclement weather conditions, including exposure to hazardous materials, loud noise, fires, or extreme heat/cold
- Essential physical activities include climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
- Required to work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
- This is a full-time position
