Redwood Materials is seeking an Industrial Engineer Intern to support process optimization and continuous improvement projects in battery manufacturing, utilizing methodologies like lean and Six Sigma to enhance efficiency and reduce costs during a summer internship in Reno, Nevada.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor, evaluate, and analyze current systems and processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Develop and implement process improvement strategies using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
Conduct time and motion studies to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement
Collaborate with teams to design and enhance systems and processes
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
Prepare and present reports on operational performance and improvements
Requirements
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as mechanical, industrial, or systems engineering.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methods.
Experience with conducting and auditing time and motion studies, work measurement to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Detail-oriented with an analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
Experience with statistical data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, 2D CAD, any linear programming software, and discrete event simulation software.
