Job Description

The Construction Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects for Redwood Materials' facilities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency while managing contractors, budgets, and schedules to support the company's sustainable battery production initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage construction projects from bidding to project closeout, including negotiations and bid evaluations.
  • Oversee construction design reviews, constructability assessments, and develop project scopes and RFPs.
  • Coordinate and supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Administer construction documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
  • Monitor and report on construction progress, metrics, and key performance indicators.
  • Ensure environmental, health, and safety standards are maintained on construction sites.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and provide feedback on design documents prior to and during construction.
  • Facilitate project start-up activities, including contract management, documentation, and team coordination.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for equipment failures during construction.
  • Manage project close-out activities, including punch list completion and commissioning reviews.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of construction experience preferably with an architecture, design or construction EPC firm
  • Bachelor's Degree; MS degree preferred or relevant years of experience in Engineering or Construction management
  • Ability to effectively prioritize with strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • High level of professionalism and strong sense of urgency
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Procore, PlanGrid, and MS Project preferred
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance; proactive, motivated self-starter
  • Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently
  • Understanding of construction design documents and ability to provide constructability feedback prior to and during construction
  • Literate in P&IDs, Single Lines, Flow Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, and Loops Diagrams
  • Ability to sequence installations with all construction trades
  • Experience with permits, city regulations, and special inspections is preferred
  • Experience working with or managing a commissioning agent preferred
  • Physical ability to safely perform essential job functions including lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs, bending, lifting objects over 50 lbs, walking up and down stairs carrying weight, and performing physical activities such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
  • Must be able to work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
  • This is a full-time position
