Job Description
A Sales Engineer for Energy Storage at Redwood Materials is responsible for designing and supporting technical sales tools and processes for utility-scale battery energy storage projects, working closely with teams to translate customer needs into actionable plans and support project development and sales efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Build sales tools and processes for utility-scale battery energy storage projects
- Model configuration tradeoffs to optimize value, energy density, and performance
- Produce early concept designs, block diagrams, and preliminary layouts to support sales
- Support RFP responses, pricing development, and incentive eligibility strategies
- Utilize networks to generate inbound interest in the business
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in BESS, utility-scale solar, or grid-connected energy systems.
- Proven success working directly with customers to scope, price, close, and execute on complex projects.
- Deep understanding of BESS techno-economics including degradation, augmentation, warranties, performance guarantees, availability, and cost drivers.
- Strong experience with developing tools in Python, Excel, R, etc.
- Strong experience with developing concepts and SLDs in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, etc.
- Experience with NFPA, UL, and product certifications required to sell to a variety of customers across the United States.
- Experience with front of and behind the meter value drivers across the United States.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills to ensure efforts can scale with time.
- Ability to work comfortably in a startup environment, being motivated and a self-starter.
- This is a full-time position.
