Job Description

The Electrical Reliability Engineer at Redwood Materials is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of electrical equipment in battery recycling and refining operations, focusing on minimizing downtime, optimizing maintenance strategies, and supporting continuous production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and improve electrical equipment preventive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maintenance costs
  • Evaluate condition monitoring data and implement new technologies to enhance electrical equipment monitoring
  • Identify and stock cost-effective spare parts to prevent extended equipment downtime
  • Facilitate Root Cause Analysis and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) studies for equipment failures
  • Coordinate with industry experts and contractors on electrical equipment reliability improvements
  • Collaborate with maintenance, design, operations, and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient production equipment operation

Requirements

  • A B.S. in Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline is preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in an industrial plant operations environment.
  • Experience in designing and improving electrical equipment preventive maintenance strategies to minimize production downtime and cost of maintenance.
  • Ability to evaluate condition monitoring data and implement new technology to improve effectiveness and value of electrical equipment condition monitoring programs.
  • Ability to identify spare parts and ensure cost-effective stocking to prevent extended downtime.
  • Experience facilitating Root Cause Analysis and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) studies for events that meet threshold triggers, involving cross-functional teams as necessary to implement preventive countermeasures.
  • Ability to coordinate with industry technical experts and contract personnel on electrical equipment reliability-related improvement efforts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Maintenance, Design, Operations, Production Engineering, Controls, and other cross-functional teams to ensure production equipment runs in a safe, efficient manner with minimal downtime.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Physical ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
  • Ability to use a full-face respirator and powered air purifying respirator (PAPR).
  • Willingness to work in environments with hazardous waste and hazardous materials with appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to work outdoors as some equipment is located outside.
