The Head of Sorting Technology at Redwood Materials leads the development and implementation of automated robotics systems for sorting battery feedstock, overseeing a cross-functional engineering team to innovate and optimize recycling processes for battery materials.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and testing of an automated battery sorting system.
Manage and mentor a cross-functional engineering team including software, controls, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
Collaborate with product, finance, operations, and engineering teams to define system requirements.
Make decisions on hardware and software components, including sensors, actuators, conveyer systems, and ML infrastructure.
Develop and own the technology roadmap for automated sorting systems.
Requirements
BS or MS degree in Engineering
10 years of engineering and engineering leadership experience in a fast paced, highly fluid environment
Proficiency across hardware and software stacks as applied in industries like robotics, vehicle automation, or factory automation
Well versed in all types of machine automation components, sensors, vision systems, electro-mechanical actuators, motion control, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc.
Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time
Essential physical requirements such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
Occasional work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
