Job Description
The Electrical Engineering Lead at Redwood Materials is responsible for designing, developing, and leading the electrical systems of high-power energy storage products, managing a team of engineers, and collaborating across departments to scale manufacturing and ensure technological advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical system design and development of high-power energy conversion products from concept to deployment
- Design power conversion products, supervisory control modules, and system components, collaborating with suppliers
- Coordinate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers for seamless product integration
- Manage and mentor the electrical engineering team, overseeing project goals and timelines
- Build and scale the electrical engineering team for high-volume manufacturing
- Stay updated on industry advancements to ensure design innovation and compliance
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus in power conversion or energy storage products, ideally for mass production.
- Experience in high-voltage design within the range of 400-2000VDC and 480VAC.
- Proven track record as a senior electrical engineer with hands-on design, prototyping, and launch experience in medium-to-high volume production of 10,000 units per year or higher.
- Ability to perform detailed schematic capture in Altium or related CAD software.
- Ability to supervise and occasionally perform detailed layout of high-power electronics PCBs in Altium or related CAD software.
- Experience in developing tools, infrastructure, and design practices suitable for a growing engineering team.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with all levels of the organization and presenting to internal and external executives.
- Physical ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
- Ability to work in challenging conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods.
- Essential physical capabilities such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
- Availability to work occasional weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $275,500 - $425,500 USD
