Job Description
The Electrical Engineering Lead at Redwood Materials is responsible for designing, developing, and leading the electrical systems of high-power energy storage products, managing a team of engineers, and collaborating across departments to scale and deploy innovative battery and power conversion solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical system design and development of high-power energy conversion products from concept to deployment.
- Design power electronics, supervisory control modules, and system components, collaborating with suppliers for cost-effective solutions.
- Coordinate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure seamless product integration.
- Manage and mentor the electrical engineering team, overseeing project goals and timelines.
- Stay updated on industry advancements to ensure designs are innovative and compliant with standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BS) or Master's degree (MS) in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- At least 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus in power conversion or energy storage products, ideally for mass production
- Proven track record as a senior electrical engineer, with hands-on design, prototyping, and launch experience in medium-to-high volume production of 10,000 units per year or higher
- Experience in high-voltage design within the range of 400-2000VDC and 480VAC
- Ability to perform detailed schematic capture in Altium or related CAD software
- Ability to supervise and occasionally perform detailed layout of high-power electronics PCBs in Altium or related CAD software
- Experience in the development of tools, infrastructure, and design practices for a growing engineering team
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with all levels of the organization and presenting to internal and external executives
- Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Ability to work in challenging conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods
- Essential physical abilities such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
- Willingness to work occasional weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $275,500 - $425,500 USD
