The Electrical Engineering Lead at Redwood Materials is responsible for designing, developing, and leading the electrical systems of high-power energy storage products, managing a team of engineers, and collaborating across departments to scale and deploy innovative battery and power conversion solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the electrical system design and development of high-power energy conversion products from concept to deployment.
Design power electronics, supervisory control modules, and system components, collaborating with suppliers for cost-effective solutions.
Coordinate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure seamless product integration.
Manage and mentor the electrical engineering team, overseeing project goals and timelines.
Stay updated on industry advancements to ensure designs are innovative and compliant with standards.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) or Master's degree (MS) in Electrical Engineering or a related field
At least 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus in power conversion or energy storage products, ideally for mass production
Proven track record as a senior electrical engineer, with hands-on design, prototyping, and launch experience in medium-to-high volume production of 10,000 units per year or higher
Experience in high-voltage design within the range of 400-2000VDC and 480VAC
Ability to perform detailed schematic capture in Altium or related CAD software
Ability to supervise and occasionally perform detailed layout of high-power electronics PCBs in Altium or related CAD software
Experience in the development of tools, infrastructure, and design practices for a growing engineering team
Strong leadership and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with all levels of the organization and presenting to internal and external executives
Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
Ability to work in challenging conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods
Essential physical abilities such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing
Willingness to work occasional weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job
Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required
