Job Description
The Development Engineering Technician, Electrochemistry at Redwood Materials is responsible for conducting experiments, building and maintaining lab equipment, and supporting the development of new materials and processes related to battery recycling and energy storage in a laboratory and pilot-scale environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain lab equipment
- Prepare solutions and conduct wet-chemistry bench experiments
- Prepare samples for analysis and perform chemical, optical, and mechanical tests
- Run and monitor experiments in high-volume manufacturing
- Support development and validation of new metrology systems
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of math, chemistry, and/or computer skills appropriate to the assignment.
- Mechanical design and fabrication experience.
- Hands-on experience building complex mechanical systems.
- Laboratory experience in wet-chemistry and bench top experiments.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organization and documentation skills.
- Strong ability to follow detailed technical instructions and operating procedures.
- Experience troubleshooting experiments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to work hands-on in the lab, including standing and operating equipment at a lab bench.
- Able to work in laboratory and factory environment for extended periods.
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Travel required as needed, less than 10%.

Full-time position
Work schedule: Sunday to Tuesday and every other Wednesday, 6am to 6pm
Work environment includes office, wet laboratory, chemical plant, outdoor test sites
