Job Description
A Chemical Operator at Redwood Materials is responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex plant systems in a high-tech chemical processing facility focused on battery recycling and sustainable technology, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot plant systems and equipment
- Perform in-process analyses and adjust operations to maintain parameters within specifications
- Start-up, shutdown, and inspect plant equipment and processes
- Analyze trends in plant parameters to respond to deviations and ensure safety and product quality
- Perform routine sampling and submit samples for analysis
- Maintain safety standards and remedy unsafe conditions
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to execute instructions
- Operate various production equipment including tanks, pumps, filters, heat exchangers, and other machinery
Requirements
- Possess a working knowledge of chemical plant operations and equipment.
- Have at least 6 months of relevant experience in chemical plant operations preferred.
- Be detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Be skilled in navigating complicated HMIs to troubleshoot and operate equipment.
- Be trained in HAZWOPER Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response or have the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Be able to perform physical tasks associated with the position, including bending, lifting, twisting, climbing, standing, and walking in a multi-level building.
- Have experience working in PPE, including safety shoes, hard hats, disposable coveralls, and Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs).
- Be able to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other standards, including meeting productivity standards.
- Be able to complete a respiratory fit test and respiratory medical evaluation.
- Be able to work with PPE such as Tyvek suits, PAPR, and other personal protective equipment for extended periods, up to a full shift.
- Be able to climb ladders and stairs and operate and train on equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other machinery.
- Be able to work in environmental conditions including outside, indoor, loud noises, extreme heat, and cold, and in difficult working conditions with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes.
- Be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- This is a full-time position with compensation commensurate with experience.

Work shifts include day shifts (6:00 am - 6:00 pm) and night shifts (6:00 pm - 6:00 am), with every other Wednesday off
Work environment includes exposure to loud noises, extreme heat and cold, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes
