Job Description
The Director of Renewable Origination Contracts is responsible for developing new business opportunities in distributed generation markets, negotiating power purchase agreements, and building relationships with customers and stakeholders to support renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and originate new business relationships in distributed generation markets
- Evaluate, structure, and negotiate power purchase agreements and transaction documents
- Assess market dynamics and fundamental drivers impacting prices
- Cultivate commercial relationships with resource development and wholesale energy market counterparts
- Coordinate and review deal structures, draft transaction documents, and negotiate contracts
- Engage with potential customers to understand needs and propose solutions
- Analyze and develop risk mitigation strategies within deal structures
- Supervise and negotiate contracts between the company and counterparties
- Prepare presentations and communicate deal proposals to senior leadership
- Collaborate with internal departments such as Legal, Pricing, and Credit during transactions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Master's degree in a related field is preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in the energy industry, specifically focusing on contract negotiations in distributed generation markets
- Demonstrates an excellent understanding of US power markets and an ability to assess, evaluate, and offer insights into evolving market conditions
- Possess a working knowledge of RTO operations, electric transmission, and power generation and storage technologies
- Holds a solid track record of success in a development or sales capacity within the clean energy sector
- Brings an established network of commercial and industrial customer contacts
- Exhibits excellent oral and written communication skills, including substantial experience in proposal and presentation preparation
- Hands-on experience leading contractual analysis and proposal submissions
- Extensive experience analyzing and structuring complex agreements
- Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future
