Job Description
The Technical Services Engineer at Portworx is responsible for supporting and troubleshooting large-scale customer deployments in cloud environments, collaborating with engineering teams to develop solutions, and ensuring the successful implementation of Kubernetes data services across hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and support large-scale customer deployments in public and private clouds.
- Provide technical expertise during all phases of Portworx deployment for key customers.
- Own and track customer issues using the ticket tracking system and resolve support cases across all severity levels.
- Collaborate with customers and partners to troubleshoot deployments, application workflows, and workloads.
- Work with engineering teams to analyze logs, reproduce issues, and develop solutions.
- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure customer success.
- Participate in pre-sales activities and assist with customer installation during POC and production phases.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available services for hybrid deployments.
- Invent and optimize algorithms for multi-array and multi-cloud storage systems to enhance resiliency and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver new features and improve data management solutions.
- Drive technical strategy, influence architecture, and establish best practices across teams.
- Own features from concept to production, ensuring observability and operational excellence.
- Mentor engineers, promote code quality, and foster a culture of innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field and/or related technical experience.
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in customer-facing, technical support work or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Tanzu, VMware container solutions.
- Fluent in English with clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and support large-scale customer deployments in public and private clouds.
- Experience providing technical expertise during all phases of deployment for key customers, including pre-sales, proof of concept (POC), and production support.
- Experience owning and tracking customer issues using ticket tracking systems, and resolving support cases across all severity levels.
- Ability to work with customers and partners to understand and troubleshoot deployments, application workflows, and workloads through multiple layers of the software stack.
- Experience working with engineering teams to analyze logs, reproduce customer issues, and develop strategies to address them.
- Ability to communicate proactively and clearly both internally and externally to enable customer success.
- Experience designing and implementing scalable, secure, and highly available services that power control planes and data services across hybrid deployments.
- Experience inventing and optimizing algorithms to orchestrate multi-array and multi-cloud storage systems, achieving industry-leading resiliency and performance.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers across multiple locations (Silicon Valley, Prague, Bengaluru) to deliver features and improve data management.
- Ability to drive technical strategy by influencing architecture, system design, and best practices across teams.
- Proven ability to solve complex distributed systems challenges with creativity, persistence, and deep technical insight.
- Experience owning features from concept to production, ensuring observability, efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Experience mentoring engineers, championing code quality, and fostering a culture of innovation and technical rigor.
- Self-motivated and self-starter attitude, willing to work in an open office, team environment, and on shifts/on-call rotations.
- Experience or working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or other related cloud technologies.
- Experience working with DevOps tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Terraform is a plus.
- CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Proven ability to resolve customer problems and escalations utilizing appropriate internal and external resources.
- Ability to triage issues and escalate them to appropriate engineering groups as necessary.
