The role involves leading the architecture, design, and validation of high-performance SSD flash controllers, collaborating with hardware and firmware teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of SSD modules in a cutting-edge data storage company.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and validate SSD flash controller architecture and design trade-offs.
Partner with firmware and hardware teams to establish DFM design guidelines and identify architectural gaps.
Communicate with vendor silicon teams to align technical requirements and specifications.
Analyze controller documentation to mitigate project risks and address unclear or missing details.
Requirements
Extensive experience as a controller SoC Architect or senior designer for high-performance SSD controllers, with a deep understanding of internal controller architecture, ASIC design, and silicon roadmaps.
Strong hands-on experience with storage controller SoCs, including PCIe, DMA engines, security, and NAND interfaces, and the entire silicon lifecycle from architecture to validation.
In-depth knowledge of NAND flash operation, error correction schemes LDPC, and their implementation within the controller hardware.
Proven ability to drive complex technical issues to resolution across internal and external engineering organizations.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex silicon design details into actionable requirements for firmware and hardware teams.
Background in embedded systems or firmware, sufficient to understand hardware-software interaction during controller bring-up.
Ability to evaluate complex SSD flash controller designs, analyze design trade-offs, and validate requirements against vendor silicon validation results.
Ability to partner with firmware and hardware teams to establish DirectFlash Module DFM design guidelines and identify early architectural gaps for new controllers.
Experience in communicating with vendor silicon teams to drive technical requirements and alignment between engineering teams and SoC vendors.
