Job Description
This role involves ensuring the reliability, performance, and resilience of critical database systems such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, by designing high-availability architectures, optimizing workloads, implementing security measures, and collaborating with engineering teams to support large-scale data management and product innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate highly available and resilient PostgreSQL and MySQL cluster architectures.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize complex database workloads for low-latency and high-throughput performance.
- Develop and execute data integrity, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and security measures for proactive issue detection and compliance.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams on data modeling, schema design, and scaling solutions.
- Automate operational tasks and manage infrastructure configurations using scripting and automation tools.
- Take ownership of production database health, including providing 24x7 support and conducting root cause analysis.
Requirements
- Advanced Expertise in Relational Database Systems with demonstrable experience managing and optimizing highly available production clusters for PostgreSQL (including advanced replication, partitioning, and performance tuning) and MySQL (including InnoDB engine, clustering, and complex query optimization).
- Proficiency in Automation Scripting with strong coding and scripting ability in languages such as Python or Bash to automate routine operational tasks, manage infrastructure configurations, and improve operational efficiency and agility.
- Systematic and analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex performance bottlenecks and debug production-level database and underlying Linux system issues in a distributed environment.
- Demonstrated operational ownership capacity, including providing effective 24x7 on-call support and conducting thorough root cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring incidents.
- Strong understanding of Linux system administration and hands-on experience utilizing infrastructure automation and observability tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus, and Grafana to manage and scale infrastructure.
- Ability and willingness to work from the Bangalore office in compliance with company policies, unless on PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
