A Commercial Pre-Sales Systems Engineer who partners with sales teams to guide customers through data storage and infrastructure solutions, translating complex technical concepts into business value and supporting technical evaluations, presentations, and solution positioning.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with sales to guide customers through data and infrastructure challenges
Develop understanding of customer business drivers and decision-making processes
Connect technology solutions to measurable customer business outcomes
Collaborate with account managers, specialists, and channel partners to drive revenue and new business
Lead evaluations, benchmarks, and system configurations
Create and deliver technical product and architecture presentations to customers
Identify and promote opportunities for interoperability, testing, and validation
Stay current with market trends, competition, and solution positioning
Support the sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software solutions
Contribute to responses for RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
Maintain knowledge of relevant architectures, cloud frameworks, and networking technologies
Requirements
Pre-sales experience is required with at least 3 years of relevant experience in technology, design, and communications.
Experience supporting the sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software to commercial accounts is preferred.
Ability to learn rapidly, absorb complex concepts, and adapt to evolving technologies and customer needs.
Understanding of the architecture, design, and implementation of multi-tiered client-server and web-based computing solutions.
Familiarity with modern web architecture such as the LAMP stack, scale-out vs scale-up architectures, AWS well-architected framework, and microservices architecture is preferred.
Experience in targeting new prospects and converting them into clients.
Ability to contribute significant portions of or lead responses to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs.
Previous experience with Linux, NFS file systems, and Linux distributed network environment.
Experience with installation and configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystems, storage subsystems architecture, shared memory architectures, cache architectures, and windowing systems.
Strong knowledge of digital transformation to Cloud Native architecture, On-Prem, Public Cloud, Provisioning Automation, and Containers.
Knowledge of VMware, Local Area Networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and general networking concepts.
Familiarity with storage-intensive applications and their requirements such as structured databases like SQL and Oracle is highly desirable.
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
