The role involves leading validation and testing strategies for NAND storage products, including firmware, hardware, and system-level performance, reliability, and compliance, while mentoring engineers and driving automation and debugging efforts in a high-impact, technical leadership position.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and lead validation strategies for NAND performance, reliability, and firmware maturity.
Design and develop advanced validation suites and automation frameworks, including CI pipelines and analytics workflows.
Conduct complex debugging and root-cause analysis across firmware, hardware, and system layers.
Represent drive qualification in cross-functional forums, influencing firmware releases and quality reviews.
Prototype non-deterministic test methods and mentor engineers in test design, data analysis, and coding standards.
Requirements
Extensive technical leadership experience in storage, SSD, or firmware validation, with a proven track record of taking enterprise-class products from early silicon through General Availability (GA).
Expert-level software engineering skills in Python, with the ability to build modular, maintainable test frameworks and automation tools in a Linux environment.
Deep technical mastery of SSD protocols, including NVMe, PCIe lane glitch, resets, link-width transitions, and OCP specifications for telemetry and latency monitoring.
Comprehensive understanding of NAND fundamentals, such as Program-Erase (P/E) cycling, read-disturb, data retention, and End-Of-Life (EOL) behavior, as well as experience with fault-injection and stress testing.
Analytical proficiency with the ability to define quality metrics and utilize data platforms such as Snowflake and Tableau to create automated-triage pipelines and maturity dashboards.
Ability to architect and lead end-to-end validation strategies for critical domains including NAND policy, power-loss robustness (PLP), and complex system-level stress tests such as snapshot and secure boot.
Experience designing and engineering advanced validation suites and automation frameworks, converting manual demonstrations into scalable, repeatable Jenkins CI pipelines and analytics-driven workflows.
Proven ability to drive complex debug efforts and root-cause analysis across firmware, hardware, and system layers, utilizing log-based forensics telemetry and NVMe OCP logs to ensure product stability.
Experience acting as the primary technical representative for Drive Qualification in cross-functional forums, influencing FW release councils, quality reviews, and joint-qualification discussions with hyperscale customers.
Mentoring engineers (IC3 and IC4 levels) on advanced test design, data analysis, and coding standards within large shared codebases.
Strong communication skills to serve as the primary technical representative for Drive Qualification in cross-functional forums and influence product and quality decisions.
