Job Description
The role involves leading the design, deployment, and management of large-scale, high-availability infrastructure platforms using Kubernetes, KubeVirt, and OpenStack, while automating processes and ensuring platform reliability, performance, and observability to support engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain large-scale Kubernetes and KubeVirt clusters on bare metal infrastructure
- Automate infrastructure lifecycle management using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Ansible and Terraform
- Manage and troubleshoot core OpenStack services such as Nova, Neutron, and Cinder for efficiency and stability
- Implement and refine monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Fluentd
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate applications onto the platform and optimize resource utilization
Requirements
- Deep Kubernetes and KubeVirt mastery with proven ability to design, deploy, and manage large, production-grade Kubernetes environments, including significant hands-on experience running and tuning clusters on bare metal infrastructure.
- Strong foundational knowledge and practical experience managing and troubleshooting key OpenStack services such as Keystone, Nova, Neutron, and Cinder in a highly available production setting.
- Expert-level skills in Linux administration and proficiency in developing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using tools like Ansible or Terraform for full-stack automation, including provisioning, configuration, security hardening, and day-2 operations of OpenStack and Kubernetes environments.
- Deep understanding of container and platform networking concepts, including CNI plugins like Cilium, load balancing, network policies, and storage provisioning and management such as Persistent Volumes and Cinder.
- Experience in implementing, configuring, and utilizing observability stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana to analyze, debug, and resolve complex platform issues at scale.
- Ability to automate infrastructure lifecycle processes, including designing and implementing comprehensive CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions.
- Proficiency in managing and optimizing large-scale Kubernetes and OpenStack environments to ensure high availability, performance, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Excellent collaboration skills to partner with diverse engineering teams, providing guidance on workload optimization, resource utilization, and platform best practices.
- Availability to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in accordance with company policies, unless on PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
