Job Description
An Implementation Engineer at Pure Storage is responsible for installing, upgrading, and supporting storage hardware and software solutions at customer sites, ensuring seamless integration and knowledge transfer to enable optimal storage performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure Pure Storage hardware and software at customer premises, including FlashArray, FlashBlade, and related components.
- Perform Non-Disruptive Upgrades (NDUs) of storage arrays and perform capacity consolidation.
- Collaborate with support and product teams to ensure successful upgrades and validate processes.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with customers on storage management and configuration.
- Plan and execute installations, upgrades, and expansions across multiple customer sites.
- Train partners on installation, setup, and upgrade procedures for storage systems.
- Assess customer requirements and provide guidance on best practices for host integration and storage functions.
Requirements
- Perform installation of m x series Flash Array at customer premises.
- Perform installation of Pure FlashBlade arrays at customer premises.
- Installation of Pure Active Cluster at client premises and other software and functionality offered by Pure.
- Perform Non-Disruptive Upgrades (NDUs) of FA-4xx series Flash Array to current m x series Flash Array.
- Perform NDUs between m x series Flash Arrays.
- Perform Non-Disruptive Upgrades (NDUs) of FlashBlade arrays.
- Work closely with support and other Professional Services team members to ensure successful array upgrade.
- Perform installation of Expansion Shelves, Data Packs, expansion cards, etc.
- Perform Capacity Consolidation.
- Run assessment calls with customers regarding upcoming NDUs and Installations.
- Perform basic knowledge transfer with customers including creation of Hosts, Host Groups, Volumes, and Replication Sessions.
- Plan travel to customer sites to perform installations and upgrades.
- Train partners on how to perform NDU from FA-4xx series FlashArray to current m x series FlashArray and between m series FlashArrays.
- Train partners on how to install and set up FlashArray m x series.
- Installation of other Pure hardware or functionality offered by the company now or in the future.
- Travel to customer sites throughout Europe and sometimes Middle East and Africa.
- Possess strong technical skills in storage SAN and NAS and server hardware installation and software configuration.
- Have strong networking skills in Ethernet, NVMe-oF, IP, and Fiber Channel networks.
- Experience with hardware installation and software configuration.
- Experience with VMware, Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, and other Unix variants like AIX and HPUX.
- Experience with creating run books, design workbooks, and statements of work.
- Be a team player capable of effectively managing multiple projects by allocating time and resources efficiently.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Have consultancy experience and customer-facing skills.
- Strong technical skills in storage protocols including FC, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, and S3.
- Understanding of storage networking protocols and concepts.
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as Citrix Xen Desktop, VMware, Oracle, SQL.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required.
