Job Description
The role involves leading regional communications strategies for the Asia Pacific Japan region, including public relations, analyst relations, and executive communications, to enhance the company's visibility and reputation across multiple countries in a fast-paced, innovative technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute regional communications programs aligning with global goals and local business objectives
- Manage relationships with journalists, industry analysts, influencers, and internal stakeholders
- Implement and oversee major company milestones, activations, and local communications initiatives
- Create and execute innovative local communications activations to support global messaging
- Craft compelling storylines and thought leadership content for the region
- Manage external agencies and vendors to deliver impactful results across APJ countries
- Train and coordinate spokespeople, ensuring messaging consistency and media readiness
- Develop and manage external and internal communication platforms for regional leaders
- Oversee the APJ communications budget and operations to ensure ROI
- Handle crisis and issues management within the region
- Participate in customer reference programs and leverage critical stories for communications
- Collaborate with regional and global teams to share ideas and best practices
- Mentor and manage the APJ communications team
Requirements
- A minimum of 12-15 years of proven experience ideally a combination of agency and in-house positions in a business-to-business (B2B) technology environment.
- Demonstrable success in leading the development and execution of communications strategies and plans including public relations (PR), analyst relations (AR), and executive communications that achieved results across multiple APJ countries.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to craft compelling storylines and develop local thought leadership content such as bylines and commentary.
- Excellent media and analyst relationships with an interest in developing more.
- Understanding of APJ markets and how to localize corporate information for impactful regional execution.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and juggle multiple projects across different countries and time zones.
- Proven experience in managing and supporting a network of PR agencies and third-party vendors to deliver impactful results in each country.
- Experience in media training spokespeople and maintaining an up-to-date bench of spokespeople aligned with company messaging.
- Ability to develop and execute innovative local communications activations that support global goals and meet local business objectives.
- Experience in managing external and internal communications platforms for business leaders, including developing narratives, managing media and analyst engagements, social channels, and speaking opportunities.
- Experience in managing the APJ communications budget and operations to ensure activities deliver a strong return on investment.
- Ability to manage and respond to local crises and issues effectively.
- Experience participating in customer reference programs and leveraging critical stories for communications activations.
- Ability to collaborate closely with regional and global teams, including EMEA-LatAm peers, to facilitate sharing and scaling of ideas.
- Experience in managing and mentoring a communications team or manager.
- Proficiency in working from an in-office environment, preferably in Singapore or Sydney, in compliance with company policies.
- A passion for technology and innovation.
- Strong understanding of how to measure communications results against established KPIs.
- Ability to educate business stakeholders about effective communications practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive, high-energy, solutions-oriented team-player attitude.
