Job Description
A Senior Project Engineer at Plus Power is responsible for evaluating, developing, and supporting the technical aspects of energy storage projects, including site assessment, risk analysis, cost estimation, and project management throughout the development cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess energy storage technologies and site layout options for long-term project performance and risk minimization
- Analyze and present project technical risks and develop de-risking solutions
- Develop project capital and operational cost estimates and milestone schedules for financial valuation
- Provide technical and project management support throughout the development cycle, including site visits and stakeholder engagement
- Support offtake, equipment procurement, and engineering and construction contracting activities to advance projects toward NTP
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline is required.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in technical roles or fields related to power, energy, renewables, or BESS with familiarity of industry-specific terminology.
- Experience in Power, Energy, Renewables, or BESS with familiarity of industry-specific terminology is required.
- Knowledge of value proposition and technical fundamentals of energy storage development is required.
- Demonstrated success with technical-commercial contract negotiations to support offtake, equipment supply, engineering, and construction agreements is required.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings and specifications is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members who are geographically dispersed is required.
- Proactive mindset to identify risks or obstacles ahead of time and drive solutions is required.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex information and make sound, timely choices aligned with organizational goals are required.
- Persuasive, clear, and concise writing and presentation skills are required.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools and applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically approximately 25% of the time is required.
