The role involves engaging with German and European government institutions to shape space and security policy, advocating for Planet's capabilities, and managing relationships with key stakeholders to support the company's strategic interests in Germany and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with German federal institutions and European stakeholders to support Planet's government affairs strategy.
Shape engagement strategies, surface political risks and opportunities, and ensure coherent positioning with Planet's leadership.
Interact directly with government officials, including Members of the Bundestag, Federal Ministers, and the Chancellor's Office.
Monitor and influence policy and budget environments at the German, EU, and European levels.
Represent Planet in conferences, meetings, and symposia with stakeholders and government officials.
Communicate Planet's value proposition to German and European audiences, educating stakeholders on aerospace opportunities.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop approaches for capturing opportunities within the German ecosystem.
Advise and support sales, program, and regional teams in building trust and credibility with German government stakeholders.
Requirements
12 years of relevant experience in government affairs, policy, or related fields.
Direct and recent experience working in Berlin with German federal institutions, including but not limited to Bundestag, Chancellor s Office, Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space, and other relevant federal ministries.
Experience succeeding in the private and public sector in Germany.
Excellent project, time, and budget management skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing attention to detail.
Outstanding communication skills fluent in both spoken and written German and English.
Interpersonal and organizational skills.
Excellent presentation skills.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a high-growth, commercial company.
Ability to work closely with organizations in a wide variety of sectors.
Experience in lobby work and association working groups.
Ability to meet with members of Government around Berlin up to 5 days per week.
Direct and recent experience in the EU and its institutions, including the European Commission and ESA.
Direct and recent experience working on space data policy and/or national security technology policy.
Experience in drafting position papers.
Direct and recent experience in forming partnerships within the space and defense industry to advance shared priorities.
