Job Description

The role involves managing inventory and cost accounting processes for space systems, ensuring accurate costing, reporting, and compliance, while collaborating cross-functionally to optimize inventory control and support financial and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage inventory, satellite materials, and cost of goods sold reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate inventory reporting and control
  • Track and analyze movements of raw materials, work in process, finished goods, and fixed assets
  • Oversee inventory counts, including cycle counts and year-end counts, and analyze adjustments
  • Maintain SOX controls related to inventory and cost accounting
  • Perform variance analysis on purchase prices, production, scrap, and obsolete materials
  • Design, implement, and maintain standard costing methodologies
  • Validate purchase order data, work order activity, and inventory adjustments for accuracy
  • Support internal and external audits related to inventory and cost accounting
  • Develop and improve inventory policies, processes, and procedures
  • Support the design and implementation of multi-country and multi-location inventory operations
  • Lead systems and reporting improvements and automation initiatives

Requirements

  • Ten years of experience in inventory and cost accounting at a public company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and US GAAP.
  • Solid project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional alignment and leadership engagement.
  • Experience collaborating with external auditors and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Application of SOX controls related to inventory and cost accounting.
  • Ability to perform analysis on purchase price variance, production variance, scrap, excess, and obsolete inventory in partnership with supply chain and manufacturing teams.
  • Design, implement, and maintain standard costing methodology.
  • Support internal and external audit requests related to inventory and cost accounting.
  • Development and iteration of inventory policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Support the design and implementation of multi-country and multi-location inventory operations.
  • Access to export-controlled information without requiring additional export licensing, as this position requires compliance with EAR ITAR regulations.
