Job Description
The Strategic Purchaser is responsible for evaluating, qualifying, and managing suppliers to ensure a cost-effective and efficient supply chain, involving activities such as sourcing, cost reduction, risk management, negotiations, and collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, qualify, and manage suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct cost analysis, negotiate pricing, and lead cost-saving initiatives.
- Develop and manage supplier contracts and perform risk management activities.
- Lead quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers and collaborate on global sourcing strategies.
- Research market trends and develop strategic commodity plans for key commodities.
- Maintain accurate master data in ERP systems for suppliers and purchased items.
- Coordinate new product and specialized purchase orders with the supply base.
- Participate in supplier qualification, development, and audit programs.
- Support internal functions such as production planning, engineering, and quality with procurement needs.
- Establish and manage supplier inventory programs to improve turns and reduce inventory levels.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or another relevant field.
- 3 years relevant professional-level work experience.
- Demonstrated ability implementing strategic projects to support corporate goals.
- Demonstrated ability working under pressure and handling multiple tasks.
- Mathematical and statistical analysis skills.
- Detail oriented with high level of accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability communicating effectively at all levels of an organization.
- Refined knowledge of and skill in MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of and skill in ERP procurement modules.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
- Must be able to speak and understand English to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- Domestic and international travel required.
- This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days in the office.
