Job Description

The Sales Engineer OEM is responsible for driving sales of Phoenix Contact products by building customer relationships, providing technical support, and identifying growth opportunities within a designated territory, while collaborating with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve sales targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales of Phoenix Contact products within the assigned territory to meet or exceed sales quotas.
  • Identify customer needs, recommend suitable products or solutions, and support the sales process with technical expertise.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers through regular communication and relationship development.
  • Generate new sales opportunities and expand business engagement within assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and utilize sales tools, CRM, and resources to support sales activities and maximize productivity.
  • Deliver product presentations, demonstrations, and technical support to customers.
  • Develop and implement strategic account plans and forecasts, and track business development activities.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Phoenix Contact products and solutions to provide technical competence and support customer inquiries.

Requirements

  • Must be able to travel via airplane and automobile for up to six hours at a time, including overnight travel 20-25 times per year.
  • Must have a valid driver s license.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and travel requirements.
  • Must have a four-year degree (preferred) or technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of sales experience in the electronics or industrial automation controls marketplace.
  • Experience working with distribution is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable conducting regular outreach and check-ins with assigned accounts to maintain engagement and uncover new opportunities.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Must be able to support and implement sales strategies including BASE selling skills and utilize all provided sales tools.
  • Must demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions.
  • Must be able to qualify and follow up on all opportunities and quotations within the assigned account portfolio.
  • Must be punctual and maintain regular and on-time attendance.
  • Must comply with company dress code guidelines.
