Job Description

The Sales Engineer OEM role involves driving sales of Phoenix Contact products by building customer relationships, providing technical support, and identifying growth opportunities within a specified territory, primarily through outreach, presentations, and collaboration with internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales of Phoenix Contact products within the assigned territory by meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
  • Identify new sales opportunities and develop relationships with existing and potential customers through ongoing communication and relationship building.
  • Support the sales process by preparing proposals, presentations, and sales materials, and providing technical support and product demonstrations.
  • Maintain and update CRM systems with accurate client information, track business development activities, and report on performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Channel and Field Application Engineering, to ensure customer satisfaction and align sales efforts.
  • Differentiate Phoenix Contact from competitors by building strong partner relationships and delivering technical competence on products and solutions.
  • Qualify and follow up on sales opportunities and quotations within assigned accounts, and develop effective Mutual Action Plans with customers.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge of products and solutions, and utilize sales tools and resources to maximize productivity and responsiveness.

Requirements

  • Must be able to travel via airplane and automobile for up to six hours at a time, including overnight travel of 20-25 nights as dictated by the assigned territory.
  • Must have a valid driver s license and be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to meet or exceed territory sales quotas as established by the RSM and or Vice President Field Sales.
  • Must be proficient in BASE selling skills and implement them to build strong customer relationships.
  • Must have 1 to 3 years minimum sales experience in the electronics or industrial automation controls marketplace.
  • Experience working with distribution is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable conducting regular outreach and check-ins with assigned accounts to maintain engagement and uncover new opportunities.
  • Must demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions.
  • Must be able to qualify and follow up on all opportunities within the assigned account portfolio, including follow-up on all quotations.
  • Must have a four-year degree preferred, or technical discipline preferred and/or equivalent experience.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Must comply with company dress code guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate punctuality and regular, on-time attendance.
