Job Description
This role involves developing and executing regional sales and marketing strategies to drive revenue growth, leading and coaching a high-performance sales team, building key customer relationships, and managing distributor channels within the industrial automation sector across multiple states.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional sales and marketing plans to achieve growth objectives.
- Lead and oversee the sales team and distribution partners to ensure effective execution of strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key accounts and distribution channels.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and evaluate high-performing sales personnel.
- Monitor and report on regional KPIs and sales performance to leadership.
- Manage sales activities, including forecasting, reporting, and utilizing CRM tools.
- Plan and coordinate regional sales promotion activities such as trade shows and customer events.
- Maintain expertise in Phoenix Contact products and solutions, especially industrial control and automation.
- Review and optimize distributor channel support to align with sales strategies.
- Participate in industry associations and regional activities to promote the company's presence.
Requirements
- Four-year degree required; Engineering discipline preferred; MBA not required but preferred.
- 5-7 years outside sales experience required.
- Experience in the Industrial Automation industry sales preferred.
- Experience working with industrial and automation distributors.
- Experience with a customer relationship management software package.
- Outstanding communication skills in written, verbal, and listening formats.
- Proficient with Windows-based applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrate initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completing the required tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required.
- Demonstrate an honest and forthright presence by taking responsibility for own mistakes and not blaming others, and by doing what he/she commits to doing.
- Work as a team player to have influence within the business and express gratitude and appreciation to others who have provided information, assistance, or support.
- Readily handle change through taking advantage of lifelong learning opportunities and being open-minded and curious in the face of new challenges.
- Must be able to travel via airplane.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds (samples, demos, literature).
- Must be able to travel overnight 35-50% as required by assigned territories.
- Comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Punctuality in all areas is required.
- Timely reporting of expenses, activity, and major regional opportunities not to exceed two weeks.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
- Must be able to develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions, with specific emphasis on Industrial Control Cabinet and Automation solutions.
