Job Description

This role involves developing and executing regional sales and marketing strategies to drive revenue growth, leading and coaching a high-performance sales team, building key customer relationships, and managing distributor channels within the industrial automation sector across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement regional sales and marketing plans to achieve growth objectives.
  • Lead and oversee the sales team and distribution partners to ensure effective execution of strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key accounts and distribution channels.
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and evaluate high-performing sales personnel.
  • Monitor and report on regional KPIs and sales performance to leadership.
  • Manage sales activities, including forecasting, reporting, and utilizing CRM tools.
  • Plan and coordinate regional sales promotion activities such as trade shows and customer events.
  • Maintain expertise in Phoenix Contact products and solutions, especially industrial control and automation.
  • Review and optimize distributor channel support to align with sales strategies.
  • Participate in industry associations and regional activities to promote the company's presence.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree required; Engineering discipline preferred; MBA not required but preferred.
  • 5-7 years outside sales experience required.
  • Experience in the Industrial Automation industry sales preferred.
  • Experience working with industrial and automation distributors.
  • Experience with a customer relationship management software package.
  • Outstanding communication skills in written, verbal, and listening formats.
  • Proficient with Windows-based applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completing the required tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required.
  • Demonstrate an honest and forthright presence by taking responsibility for own mistakes and not blaming others, and by doing what he/she commits to doing.
  • Work as a team player to have influence within the business and express gratitude and appreciation to others who have provided information, assistance, or support.
  • Readily handle change through taking advantage of lifelong learning opportunities and being open-minded and curious in the face of new challenges.
  • Must be able to travel via airplane.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds (samples, demos, literature).
  • Must be able to travel overnight 35-50% as required by assigned territories.
  • Comply with company dress code guidelines.
  • Punctuality in all areas is required.
  • Timely reporting of expenses, activity, and major regional opportunities not to exceed two weeks.
  • Regular and on-time attendance.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact products and solutions, with specific emphasis on Industrial Control Cabinet and Automation solutions.
