Job Description
The Manufacturing Co-Op role is an entry-level position for high school juniors and seniors, focusing on hands-on experience in production tasks such as assembly, quality inspection, and basic electronics. This position offers flexibility in work environments and the potential for future apprenticeship opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate various hand tools and equipment
- Read and understand production documentation and drawings
- Follow wiring schematics and basic electronics concepts
- Perform final assembly, electrical testing, and packaging
- Screen and separate various parts
- Record assembly time data and complete routing and quality inspections
- Assist in other production areas as needed
- Focus on increasing productivity in all activities
- Follow PPE requirements and company procedures
- Be cross-trained in several assembly functions
Requirements
- Must be a junior or senior in high school.
- Must be at least 16 years of age by the start of the role.
- Ability to read and comprehend English written production documents.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be willing to be cross trained in several assembly functions to meet constantly changing production requirements.
- Must be willing to be moved into various work centers in order to meet production requirements or where skills best serve department and company goals.
- Must be able to sit or stand for at least 4 hours.
- Must be able to lift or move containers weighing up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
- Attendance in accordance with company policies.
- Able to use a pallet jack.
- Able to use a portable staircase and climb to 12 foot heights.
- Able to carry 20 pound 3 cubic feet boxes up and down a portable staircase.
- Able to push a 4-wheeled cart with a 100-pound load.
