Job Description
A senior engineer role focused on designing and integrating subsea wiring and interconnect systems for a renewable ocean energy company, ensuring reliable, maintainable, and robust electrical solutions for harsh marine environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design wiring diagrams for power distribution and data communication systems based on system requirements
- Create cable and harness designs, including layout in CAD for optimal fit and routing
- Select materials and hardware such as connectors, penetrators, and pressure boundaries to ensure reliability and maintainability
- Develop manufacturing-ready documentation including wiring diagrams, BOMs, and assembly drawings
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to resolve routing conflicts and integration issues
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and validation of wiring systems during production and deployment
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience in subsea marine systems.
- 8 years designing and delivering wiring cabling interconnect systems for subsea, offshore, or other harsh environments.
- Expertise in subsea interconnects wet-mate dry-mate connectors, penetrators, pressure housings, cable terminations.
- Strong understanding of hydrostatic pressure, corrosion, fatigue, bend-radius management, and long-term reliability.
- Proficiency with electrical wiring design tools Zuken E3 preferred and producing manufacturing-ready documentation.
- Experience leading technical efforts, reviewing designs, interfacing with vendors, and driving decisions through integration and testing.
- Ability to support field work at shipyards and deployment sites as needed for integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
