The role involves developing and maintaining simulation tools and data processing systems to monitor and optimize ocean-based renewable energy technologies, ensuring their performance and safety in harsh marine environments.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain automated processes to initialize device states using sensor data for real-time simulations.
Develop tools and dashboards to visualize live sensor telemetry alongside simulation outputs for fleet performance monitoring.
Use fleet data to refine safety factors and performance limits by providing empirical evidence to engineering teams.
Investigate out-of-sample sensor readings and diagnose anomalies in dynamics, performance, or structural response through simulations.
Run routine analyses, develop new code features, and perform manual deep-dives into complex physics problems related to simulations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) or Master's degree (MS) in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience and expertise.
Strong foundational knowledge in fluid mechanics, structural dynamics, and vibration resonance.
Proficiency in Julia and Python, with the ability to build production-ready engineering tools.
Familiarity with filtering, FFTs, and sensor fusion techniques to clean noisy data for simulation input.
Proven track record of collecting data from physical assets and using it to inform, validate, or initialize numerical simulations.
Ability to use AI for code generation and efficiency while maintaining the technical intuition to spot errors in the output.
Intermittently able to work longer hours and weekends to support critical needs.
Willingness or ability to relocate to Portland, Oregon, or at minimum, the ability to travel to Portland intermittently.
