The Fleet Operations Lead Engineer is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of autonomous wave power generator nodes in the ocean, including fleet management, system monitoring, and operational protocols to maximize energy production in challenging marine environments.
Key Responsibilities
Own Node fleet at-sea operations from deployment to decommissioning
Provide input to fleet control software for GUI design, layout, and standards
Design and update GUI for fleet management and monitoring
Coordinate fleet movement strategies to maximize power production
Develop and run node operator qualification and training programs
Ensure nodes avoid shipping lanes and shallow waters
Design and manage physical layout of the fleet control room
Monitor node physical health and coordinate maintenance or return to port
Requirements
A degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or another related discipline.
At least 5 years of experience with marine operations including operations planning accounting for ocean conditions, water depth, geography and weather.
Extensive experience learning and operating complex mechanical and electrical systems for vehicles or products in challenging, high-consequence environments.
Demonstrated history of integrating operational requirements into hardware and GUI design.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide and receive guidance across various technical levels.
Willingness to travel to Portland intermittently.
Ability to work longer hours and weekends to support critical needs.
