The Director of Accounting Corporate Controller will lead financial operations, build scalable accounting systems, ensure compliance, and provide financial insights to support the company's growth from R&D to mass production in the renewable energy and ocean technology sector.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, GL, payroll, and tax compliance.
Develop and refine cash flow forecasting and runway management tools.
Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement inventory and cost accounting practices.
Ensure accuracy of production cost tracking, BOM traceability, and system alignment for high-volume manufacturing.
Ensure financial statement integrity and compliance with GAAP and tax regulations.
Lead external audits and maintain internal controls for a scaling company.
Implement and optimize ERP systems and integrate with other business tools.
Partner with FP&A and leadership to develop financial forecasts and reporting packages.
Build lightweight reforecasting and scenario planning tools for financial visibility.
Requirements
Six or more years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting, including leading financial operations for organizations with revenue of at least 50 million dollars.
Deep expertise in GAAP, financial statement preparation, internal controls, and tax compliance.
Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial audits.
Strong Excel and financial modeling skills, with models that are both accurate and maintainable.
Hands-on experience implementing and managing ERP systems, with NetSuite strongly preferred.
Extraordinary attention to detail, understanding the importance of accuracy and tightness in accounting and reporting.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insights.
Proven ability to design and implement accounting systems and processes that effectively scale with company growth.
Strong communication and leadership skills to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
Work onsite from our Portland, OR headquarters.
Flexibility to work longer hours or weekends when required during critical periods.
