Job Description
The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for onsite troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of residential solar systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction throughout the system's lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite troubleshooting and repair of solar systems.
- Document visits and complete job close-out reports.
- Schedule site visits and coordinate with local field teams and customers.
- Assist with system close-out, pre-energization issues, and project readiness.
- Perform site surveys, inspections, and document collection.
- Deliver quality installation, service, and performance of solar systems.
- Communicate effectively with homeowners regarding visit times and updates.
- Maintain service level agreements (SLAs) for site visits.
- Perform operations and maintenance (O&M) support and monitoring.
- Conduct safety and quality site audits, inspections, and reviews.
- Perform field installations including PV, storage, MPU, or structural upgrades.
- Investigate damages and claims related to solar systems.
Requirements
- Electrical License only required in Massachusetts, a plus elsewhere
- At least 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems
- General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and be able to work on your feet for long periods of time
- Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
- Electrical experience is a plus
- At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the assigned workday
- Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation
- Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor
- Attention to detail
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
- Must have a valid state driver’s license
- Must have a clean driving record
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
