Job Description
The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining residential solar systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction throughout the system's lifespan. The role involves onsite technical work, customer communication, and supporting installation and service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair solar systems onsite.
- Document service visits and complete job closeout reports.
- Schedule site visits and coordinate with customers and field teams.
- Provide feedback to improve installation quality and execution.
- Assist with project closeout, pre-energization issues, and system readiness.
- Perform site surveys, inspections, and document collection.
- Deliver high-quality service and installation work as the primary field representative.
- Maintain service level agreements (SLAs) for site visits.
- Perform operations and maintenance support, including system monitoring.
- Conduct safety and quality audits, site inspections, and job closeout reviews.
- Perform field installations of PV, storage, MPU, or structural upgrades.
- Investigate damages and claims related to solar systems.
Requirements
- Electrical License only required in Massachusetts; having an electrical license elsewhere is a plus.
- At least 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems.
- General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance.
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and work on your feet for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
- At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Attention to detail.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
