Job Description
The Principal Product Designer at Palmetto is responsible for creating exceptional user experiences for web and mobile applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, iterate, and implement intuitive and aesthetically pleasing product solutions that address customer needs and support company goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and iterate on user experiences for products by applying holistic design thinking.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
- Lead the end-to-end design process for major features of Palmetto's products.
- Contribute to and maintain the Palmetto design system and develop new design patterns.
- Develop visual and brand aesthetics to ensure a cohesive user experience.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and support to team members to ensure successful design outcomes.
- Engage in user research, prototyping, and information design to inform product development.
Requirements
- 8-10 years of experience designing and delivering mobile and web applications in cross-functional technology companies.
- Possess extraordinary visual and user interface design skills, as well as user-centered design principles.
- Ability to grasp and distill highly complex issues and translate them into clean, focused, understandable solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to rally people around a solution design.
- Self-starter, self-motivated, able to work independently, perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision, and deliver high-quality results.
- Deep understanding of the product development process, from product thinking to visual and experience design, and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with product and engineering teams.
- Skills and desire to operate at all stages of the design process, from user research to polished designs, implementation with engineering, and follow-on iterations.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and limited resources, solving new problems where there is no industry counterfactual.
- Experience with B2B products and ecosystems, complex processes and workflows, data visualization (highly desired).
- Experience designing systems in Figma.
- Experience with motion design and animation.
- Experience designing or maintaining product Design Systems, Component Libraries, and Design Tokens.
