The Principal Data Governance Management lead is a senior-level role responsible for developing and enforcing data governance and privacy frameworks, ensuring data quality and compliance, and collaborating with various teams to support strategic decision-making and operational excellence within the company.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and promote the enterprise data governance framework, policies, standards, and procedures.
Design and implement data governance and management solutions aligned with enterprise and regulatory standards.
Act as data steward and oversee the deployment of data governance tools and platforms such as data catalogs and quality monitoring systems.
Lead Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategy and implement DLP tooling.
Define and monitor KPIs to assess the effectiveness and maturity of the data governance program.
Participate in governance councils and contribute to strategic data and information risk management discussions.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and internal policies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess data risks and establish controls for data access, usage, and retention.
Conduct audits of data governance compliance and report findings to stakeholders.
Develop and manage data retention and archival policies in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Create and deliver training programs on data governance and privacy policies, roles, and responsibilities.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in data management, data quality, business intelligence, or a related field, with at least 5 years focused specifically on data governance and policy implementation.
Proven experience implementing and managing an enterprise data governance program.
Expert-level knowledge of data governance principles, data quality management, metadata management, and data lineage.
Strong proficiency with data governance and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools such as TrustArc, Collibra, Alation, etc.
Knowledge of database technologies including SQL and NoSQL, and data warehousing concepts.
Knowledge of cloud environments and data platform architectures, preferably AWS, GCP, Snowflake.
Working knowledge of relevant data privacy and security regulations, specifically GDPR and CCPA.
Experience with Agile methodologies.
