Job Description

The Senior Associate in Capital Markets at Orenda is responsible for leading and managing energy project transactions, including M&A, project financing, and tax equity deals, by coordinating internal teams and external partners to ensure successful deal execution and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end-to-end transactions including M&A and financing deals.
  • Ensure timely execution of transaction milestones and manage deadlines.
  • Prepare and lead the creation of Confidential Information Memorandums and lender presentations.
  • Perform financial modeling related to asset operations, project finance, and equity.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to gather and verify essential information.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of third-party reports and company communications.
  • Manage the closing process by overseeing the completion of all required objectives.
  • Identify and resolve development-level issues and unforeseen challenges during transactions.
  • Supervise and mentor analysts to ensure accuracy and professional growth.
  • Support relationship sourcing, negotiation, transaction structuring, and documentation review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, ideally in the areas of Finance, STEM, or a comparable path of study.
  • Five (5) years of experience with an investment bank, project finance lender, developer capital markets role, or tax equity investor.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: M A, project finance, or tax equity, with the expectation to master all three.
  • Active role in numerous live transactions, excluding portfolio management.
  • Superior competency in financial modeling of various types specifically related to asset-level operations, project finance, and equity, with the ability to deliver models with 100% accuracy.
  • Complete understanding of all required objectives to close transactions, including managing the completion of those objectives.
  • Experience in transaction management leadership is strongly preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of power utilities, infrastructure, and/or oil and gas sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technology and markets is encouraged but not required.
  • Ability to interface with internal teams such as Project Origination, Project Execution, and Asset Management, as well as external consultants including independent engineers, market consultants, tax advisors, and legal counsel.
  • Strong skills in documentation review, negotiation, and resolving key obstacles to closing transactions.
  • Excellent communication skills for preparing Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs) and Lender Presentations.
  • Ability to manage transaction timelines and ensure milestones are met despite challenges.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills to support development-level issues and unforeseen challenges.
  • Supervisory skills to mentor and train analysts, ensuring 100% accuracy in work products and professional growth.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, taking full ownership of processes and responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational and process-oriented approach to work to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Resilience and ability to maintain clarity and deliver results under tight deadlines and changing circumstances.
  • Hard-working and dedicated attitude to achieve objectives.
  • Self-starter mentality to proactively identify and complete tasks needed to meet goals.
  • Adaptability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Transparent communication style, providing honest, direct, and tactful feedback.
  • Collaborative approach to work with team members and external partners.
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ) to support long-term relationship management.
  • Strong ethical standards, never compromising ethics for results and considering long-term impacts.
  • This is a full-time, in-office position requiring work from Brooklyn, NY headquarters five days a week.
