Job Description
The role involves leading the engineering teams responsible for developing and maintaining Orbital Sidekick's core geospatial platforms and data pipelines, combining strategic leadership with hands-on technical contributions to deliver scalable, high-quality satellite data analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain OSK's core platforms including the customer-facing platform and data processing engine.
- Lead and guide a small engineering team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Drive engineering excellence, operational transparency, and reliable delivery through ownership of Jira and Scrum processes.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State, in order to comply with ITAR regulations.
- Experience leading core engineering teams responsible for scalable customer-facing platforms and data processing engines, with the ability to drive engineering excellence across both domains.
- Hands-on experience directly designing, building, and maintaining core platforms, with a strong technical background in geospatial platforms, data pipelines, and scalable, production-grade systems.
- Ability to guide a small engineering team to deliver high-quality outcomes, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
- Experience owning and managing Jira and Scrum processes to ensure engineering rigor, operational transparency, and reliable delivery.
- Proven ability to move quickly, take calculated risks, and deliver customer value while maintaining a long-term view on scalability.
- Strong technical leadership skills with a passion for geospatial platforms, data pipelines, and scalable systems.
- Location requirement: Ability to work in San Francisco, CA, in a hybrid model with a strong emphasis on collaboration in the office.
